Packaged drinking water in Kampala: what buyers should check

Homes, offices, hotels, schools, and clinics in Kampala buy packaged drinking water because the tap supply is not always the water they want on a meeting table or in a patient area. The useful check is not a slogan. It is the treatment, the price, the pack size, and whether the supplier will tell you the delivery fee before the truck leaves.

Earth Packaged Drinking Water is produced by Lagenda Limited at Kansanga, next to Kivebulaya Church, Kampala. Water is treated on site. It passes pre-filtration, reverse osmosis, ultraviolet sterilisation, and ozonation, then it is filled, sealed, and batch-coded. It is packaged drinking water. It is not natural mineral water, and the site does not use “mineral water” as a keyword or a product name.

Sizes on the public price list are 500ml, 1.5L, and 20L. A carton of 24 × 500ml bottles is UGX 10,000. A box of 6 × 1.5L bottles is UGX 10,000. A new 20L bottle is UGX 25,000. You keep the bottle and refill it. Each later refill is UGX 7,000 when you hand back an empty, usable bottle. Lost or badly damaged bottles are replaced at the new-bottle price.

1L bottles, a water dispenser for sale or lease, and a bottle organizer are available. Delivery runs Monday to Saturday, 8:00 to 18:00 East Africa Time. Core routes are in Kampala, including Kansanga. Wakiso, Mukono, and Entebbe are delivered on request. National drops are arranged for bulk orders. The fee is route- and quantity-based. A large order may qualify for a reduced fee. The order is confirmed, with the fee, before dispatch. Payment is cash on delivery, MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Merchant to a number confirmed on the official line, or an invoice for an approved account.

On the bottle or carton, read the production or best-before date and the batch code. Quote that code if you need a quality follow-up. Follow the date on your pack. Store bottles upright, cool, and out of direct sun. Do not use a bottle that is unsealed or damaged.

Each production batch is checked at the Kansanga production laboratory before release. The checks cover appearance, odour and taste, pH, total dissolved solids, turbidity, total coliforms, and E. coli. Finished-water targets are on the Quality page. A practical order is short. Say the product, the quantity, the area, and the day you need it. Example: ten cartons of 500ml and four 20L refills for Ntinda on Thursday. If it is the first 20L supply, say that you need new bottles at UGX 25,000 each. If you already hold Earth bottles, the refill line is UGX 7,000 per empty exchanged.
